The hollows of the elbow sweat quickly and heavily. To process this sweat, a fine knitted structure allows moisture to pass through but does not hinder elbow movements. Sweat evaporates and is pushed outward through the body warmth. The risk of cooling down does not exist in this small area.

Team Liquigas-Cannondale with a Unique Ergo 3

In 2012 Sidi shoes will be worn by the champions from Team Liquigas-Cannondale. Ivan Basso, Vincenzo Nibali, along with all the other strong riders on the team will be confidently positioning wearing the new Ergo 3 Carbon Vernice.

Sidi wanted to give its champions a model of this extraordinary shoe with special graphics. Dino Signori personally delivered it to team manager for Liquigas-Cannondale Roberto Amadio. These special graphics were custom made for the team and unfortunately will not be available in stores.

For the champions from Team Liquigas Cannondale Sidi chose to produce this shoe in special colours and none other than Dino Signori himself presented the shoe to team manager Roberto Amadio. These special colours were realized exclusively for the team and are not available on the market.

This shoe has many features. Ergo 3 Carbon Vernice is lighter and more resistant than ever, made in Lorica® microfiber, patent leather and nylon mesh in a mix of technology and design. Having ridden most of the top end brand of cycle shorts over the years I was impressed to see that the X-Bionic Fennec Bib Shorts looked like they had been sent back in time from an advanced cycling planet!! But no, Swiss cult brand X-Bionic are renowned for developing innovative performance enhancing products that are always state of the art, thanks to the time and money they have devoted to research and development.

Clearly this thought and research has been applied, not only to the technical know-how, but also the materials selected.  And as their packaging proudly states X-Bionic has been  awarded more than 300 international awards and recognitions for their products and more than 200 brand test comparison victories. Should be good then!

They certainly look like nothing else in the market packed with clever material technology and a mass of technical weaves and articulated areas.

For instance, the ‘Innerlap AirConditioningZone’ around the groin area features woven mesh that has a zero insulation function, meaning that air can circulate and cooling can take place as soon as you start to sweat. Similarly, the 3D Intercooler technology on the upper thigh is designed to collect perspiration, holding it on top of the skin, allowing it to be evaporated to maximum effect. However, the technology doesn’t stop there as the Intercooler’s ribs lie in waves across the muscle, providing insulation during periods of rest, preventing muscles from over-cooling. The seamless, anatomical padded seat is recessed into the bib shorts rather than being stuck on the inside as with other makes, eliminating the need for any excess material between you and your saddle.

If you haven’t noticed, the part of the human anatomy in and around the unseemly parts is fraught with curves and I for one would rather have this area carressed (easy tiger) than squeezed!!!  Older cyclists will claim that if this area can’t breath, moisture will build up, resulting in an irritation like a nappy rash. While I may argue that my groin doesn’t actually inhale and exhale, they have a valid point.

Needless to say this didnt look like this was going to be an issue with these shorts…

Pulling them on in readiness for a day hammering around the Chiltern Hills the unique material feels wonderfully light on the skin no shiny lycra or multi panels here, imagine merino wool like softness. So far so good, amazingly for such a funky looking product after 5 mins riding I forgot all about the ‘out there’ styling it was just pure comfort all the way the chamois felt better than any other I have ridden on no squidgy or floating sensation just neutral comfort. They were truly fantastic offering great comfort no wet spots of pooling sweat to make you chilly and no uncomfortable seams.

The bib section is as well constructed as the shorts with wide and comfortable shoulder straps and more clever technical fabric construction to keep this rider comfortable all day long. I returned home after a day on rough roads with nothing but praise for these shorts I would rate them even higher than the Assos FI.13 S5 Bibshorts which is high praise indeed, in conclusion these are the shorts of tomorrow available today from Velosport.
